Day 61: Unqualified

Happy... what is today? Tuesday?
Sure.  That sounds right - we'll roll with it.

Happy Tuesday and Day 61 of Another 100 Days of Hannah, y'all!

So, I realized after I finished writing last night, that yesterday was Day 60.  I always feel like I should comment every about 10 days on how quickly this is progressing, etc, etc, etc.

But I didn't.

So here's my obligatory comment:
Ahhh! We only have 40 (39) days left of this blogging journey!

Okay, now that that's out of the way...

This morning, the song Maria from The Sound of Music has been stuck in my head.
Don't ask why - I don't know.
It's just been stuck in my head.

(Granted, I haven't really done anything to try to unstick it...)

Anyway.
I've always loved this song... probably because I've always felt like I could relate a bit to the portrayal of Maria.

She climbs a tree and scrapes her knee.
Her dress has got a tear.
She waltzes on her way to Mass and whistles in the stair...

And so on and so forth.
Pretty much: she's a mess.

She doesn't have it together.
She doesn't do what she's supposed to do, and does what she isn't.

She's a little rugged.
She's a little wild.

And yet, somehow, by the end of the movie, she ends up being a hero - even though, by all the standards of the abbey, she was completely unqualified.

This thought of being unqualified reminds me of a quote from Christine Caine (I think):
God doesn't call the qualified.  He qualifies the called.

I'm admittedly running out of a time for a comprehensive analysis of instances in scripture where this statement holds true... maybe another day - but, suffice it to say that the accounts are numerous.

Which is pretty encouraging for a messy kid from the middle of nowhere.

And hopefully it is for you too.

'Til tomorrow,

Hannah
